What Can We Learn From a Dragon Logo? Lessons in Branding, Law, and Courtroom Decorum

In a dramatic turn of events worthy of a scene straight out of Game of Thrones, a judge in Michigan has struck down a lawsuit filed by Dragon Lawyers PC, branding the firm’s cartoon dragon logo as “juvenile and impertinent.”

As if we were watching a council meeting in King’s Landing, the judge ruled that the logo—a business-suited dragon that looked ready to negotiate a treaty—was way too whimsical for the somber atmosphere of a courtroom.

Who Filed the Lawsuit?

The lawsuit was brought forth by attorney Jacob A. Perrone, the legal knight behind Dragon Lawyers PC, who thought he could channel his inner Targaryen with a logo that symbolized “aggressive representation.”

After all, who wouldn’t feel like they had a dragon at their back in a legal battle?

But the judge, perhaps channeling the spirit of Ned Stark, reminded him:

“The Court is not a cartoon.”

It seems the judge was hoping for a bit more solemnity and a little less House of the Dragon flair.

So, What Can We Learn From This Stark Reminder (lol) in Legal Pleadings Presentation?

We can talk all about the Florida probate forms and checklists.

As it stands right now, many judicial circuits have their own required probate forms and checklists.
For example:

  • If we wanted to open a probate in Broward, we would use the Broward checklist and the Broward forms.
  • Likewise, Miami has a different (but very similar) checklist and forms that they require.
  • Some circuits require a notary for some documents, and some don’t allow signature pages without three lines of text, and so on.

Exciting News: Probate Checklists May Be Standardized!

However, there is exciting news: the checklists are going to be standardized across the state of Florida!
It’s in the works, people, and we’re all VERY excited!!

The goal is to avoid the need to research the Judicial requirements for every circuit’s checklist, as they will be uniform across the State.

Final Takeaway

So, there you have it.

While some may chuckle at the dragon logo, the judge’s ruling highlights the importance of presenting legal documents in a manner befitting the Iron Throne:

  • Serious
  • Dignified
  • Possibly a little intimidating (but not too intimidating!)
